A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). The BCACC requires its members to meet specific educational and training criteria. In particular, an RCC must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology or a closely related field. Many have additional training, however, in their specific area of practice. In addition to the academic requirements, an RCC must satisfy the BCACC's requirement regarding clinical supervision, and adhere to the standards of practice and code of ethics established by the BCACC. In addition, all RCCs are required to have a clean criminal record check, thus offering peace of mind for members of the public seeking to enter into a professional counselling relationship.
Please note that the term Counsellor is currently not a protected title. Therefore, anyone can refer to themselves as a Counsellor or Coach without the appropriate training. When searching for a Counsellor, you are strongly encouraged to find someone who holds at least a Master's Degree in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. All Counsellors at Verdant Health Inc. have a Master's Degree and hold the RCC designation.
A Registered Psychologist is typically qualified at the Doctoral level and may have expertise in assessment. Thus, a Registered Psychologist can provide a diagnosis in addition to remedial treatment. Registered Psychologists are regulated under the Heath Professions Act, and adhere to rigorous ethical and professional standards set forth by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.

Clients are advised to consult with their insurance providers to determine whether our services are covered by their insurance plans. Most insurances will provide partial coverage for Registered Clinical Counsellors and Registered Dietitians. If any of our services are not covered by your insurance, we recommend that you contact your insurance provider to alter your insurance plan.
Yes, and we will bill ICBC directly for you! Please call us before booking your initial appointment. We will require the following information:
We offer direct billing for ICBC claimants. At present, we are unable to offer direct billing for other insurance providers. Once your payment has been processed at the end of your treatment session, you will be issued with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
We are currently working with Green Shield Canada, and hope to be able to provide a direct billing option for Green Shield Canada policy holders very soon.
No, as of December 20, 2024, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced that counselling services provided by Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC's) are, for the most part, exempt from GST. This tax exemption applies to most provinces, including British Columbia. The exemption does not apply to Quebec, and there special considerations for Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
