Our Story
About Verdant Health Inc.
Verdant Health Inc. is a multidisciplinary practice offering an array of health and wellness services. The name Verdant is an adjective that describes the bright green colour of lush grass or other rich vegetation. It evokes images of wide valleys bursting forth with new life and the promise of a better tomorrow. It is precisely this spirit of hope and youthful exuberance that drives our company forward. Our practitioners are passionate about their work and utilize evidence-based practices, which underscore the integration of current scientific research with clinical expertise and client values.
Our story began in 2016, when Wayne De Connick established an independent counselling practice. Although Wayne enjoyed the clinical work, he found that it was often challenging to obtain collegial support. Thus, independent practice proved to be an isolating endeavour from a professional stand point. Seeking greater collegial engagement, Wayne subcontracted with large healthcare providers in the years that followed. During this chapter of his career, Wayne formed many professional relationships with Counsellors and other healthcare professionals. Wayne soon realized that such collegial collaboration greatly improved service delivery and resulted in an enhanced client experience. Consequently, the idea of opening a multidisciplinary practice was firmly planted in Wayne's mind.
While working within the healthcare industry, Wayne became acutely aware that many communities throughout British Columbia were underserved. Indeed, companies and organizations within the public and private sectors were struggling to keep pace with the demand for health and wellness services. During the global health crisis, which began in 2020, the need for such services reached a fever pitch. At the same time, the use of telehealth and other forms of virtual therapy presented a viable alternative to in-person treatment. Motivated to address the ever-increasing health and wellness needs of British Columbians, Wayne leveraged technology to connect healthcare professionals with each other and their respective communities with the aim of providing effective, and expedient, health and wellness services. The collaboration that ensued between healthcare professionals and community stakeholders resulted in the birth of our company. Eventually, Verdant Health Inc. was incorporated under the Business Corporations Act on January 19, 2022.
